Chi Ali, a vet to the hip-hop scene since he broke into the game at the age of 14. Chi Ali gained acceptance right away. Although much younger than the veterans he was able to spit with, he knew what to expect based upon being around others that were already considered hit makers in the hip-hop like Queen Latifah. With Latifah's mentoring and assistance, Chi Ali was in the right circles to meet Chris Lighty. The meeting was pivotal because Chi Ali became the first artist to be a part of Violator Records.
He was able to appear on tracks with DeLaSoul on their 3 Feet High and Rising album. He also kicked lyrics on Black Sheep's Pass the 40. Chi Ali is known for the way he was able to deliver on his debut album The Fabulous Chi-Ali. At the age of 14, this young Timberland wearing dude was kicking it with the best of them and was considered the future of hip-hop. The Fabulous Chi-Ali was a hit and produced songs like Age Ain't Nothing, But a Number, Funky Lemonade and Road Runner. He was the youngest of the Native Tongues.
Fast forward 20 years and Chi is ready to put his name back in the midst of those delivering hits. You can look forward to hearing a more mature sound from Chi that will focus on how one grows from a boy to man. More to come from Chi Ali, follow him @chialibx
