Where Does The Harlem Shake Come From?

Most people trace it back to a street dancer named Al B, who used to perform it at the legendary Rucker tournament in Harlem.

Al B: It "s a drunken shake anyway, it "s an alcoholic shake, but it "s fantastic, everybody loves it and everybody appreciates it. And it "s glowing with glory. And it "s respected. (InsideHoops)

But it was brought into the mainstream by Sean "P. Diddy " Combs via G Dep.

“We gonna call it the ‘Harlem Shake Part 2.’ We can’t call it the Harlem Shake, we gotta at least call it the Harlem Shake part 2, because from what I understand they aren’t even doing the Harlem Shake,” G Dep said. (AllHipHop)
