Russell Simmons, Jim Jones, Juelz Heading To Peace Week In NYC

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons will joint activists Reverend Al Sharpton, Wyclef Jean and a group of celebrities who are coming together to celebrate the 2nd Annual Peace Week in New York City with Erica Ford "s LIFE Camp organization.

The week kicks off January 15th with a series of events throughout each five boroughs of New York City, aimed at curbing youth violence, random shootings and other forms of aggression.

The week, which was officially recognized by former Governor David Paterson, takes place from January 15th-22nd.

"Peace Week is about each individual being that little shift -- doing that little thing -- that makes a difference in your own LIFE, and about getting people to believe that anything is possible. I am happy to be involved," Russell Simmons said of his involvement in the event next week.

On January 19th, celebrities, civic leaders and family members will host a press conference led by Erica Ford, on the steps of City Hall, at 11:00AM.

This year, organizers of the 2nd Annual Peace Week are making plans to host events in some of the United States " most violent cities, including Camden, New Jersey, Philadelphia, PA, Chicago, Illinois, Compton, California, Detroit Michigan and other trouble spots.
