It is with heavy hearts that we must report the loss of longtime Duck Down Records member, Sean Price.
Sources close to Hip-Hop Wired tell us that the 43-year-old Brooklyn native died in his sleep without warning early this morning.
Before embarking on successful solo career in the mid-00s, he was known as Ruck as one-half of the unapologetically brash and lyrical proficent duo, Heltah Skeltah. He was also a member of the underground supergroup Random Axe, which consisted of himself, Guilty Simpson and Black Milk.
DJ Premier sent shockwaves across social media with a eulogic message which read, “R.I.P. Ruck….Love and Respect to The Duck Down Family!!! #SeanPrice” and more R.I.P’s shortly followed. A loss of this magnitude doesn’t hit the Hip-Hop community every day and it’s taken everyone by storm in the worst way possible.
See his last tweet below and the multitude of condolocences from the Hip-Hop community.
R.I.P. to Sean Mandela.
