Today Friday, April 1st, site Global Grind has reported that Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons will be returning to head Def Jam Recordings, the label he co-founded with Rick Rubin back in 1984. Below is how Global Grind is reporting the news:
“Earlier this week, Russell Simmons made a deal with Def Jam Recordings to return to the label as the President/CEO after the departure of LA Reid. Russell began Def Jam in 1984 with Rick Rubin and went on to release classic albums from Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Jay-Z and many more. He sold Def Jam to Universal in 1999, and since has not been involved in the day-to-day operations.
