De La Soul Recognized by the Library Of Congress

De La Soul "s "3 Feet High And Rising " Recognized by the Library Of Congress

De La Soul "s classic 3 Feet High & Rising has officially been recognized by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry. The trio "s storied debut reached the milestone this week when it was named as one of 25 albums to be added to the Library of Congress’ 2010 National Recording Registry.

Other recognized works include Al Green "s Let "s Stay Together, Steely Dan "s Aja, and Captain Beefheart (RIP) and his Magic Band "s Trout Mask Replica.

The 25 albums were chosen by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington and the Library’s National Recording Preservation Board. The records are chosen based on their cultural, aesthetical, or historical impact.

3 Feet High And Rising served as the debut album from De La Soul and remains one of Hip Hop’s most recognized albums to date. Released by Tommy Boy Records the album featured several well-known cuts including “Me Myself And I” and “Buddy.”
