After
playing home to the likes of KRS-One and B-Real, Harlem "s Black Rob is the latest
artist to join Dru Ha and Buckshot "s label.
Harlem, New York veteran emcee Black Rob has been named the latest addition
to Duck Down Music. The former Bad Boy Records hit-maker had spent close to
a decade with Diddy "s iconic label, releasing hits such as the Buckwild-produced
"Whoa" before a felony prison stint. Released from incarceration this
March, Rob will work with the 15 year-old label to release his third album,
Game Tested & Street Approved.
In a statement, Black Rob explained the LP is a "testimony of what I stand
for and how I feel. The people have been asking for true Hip Hop music, and
that "s what I "m giving them. I stayed away from features. I "ve been away for
4 [years], so I feel the people deserve to hear me. When I came home, I went
right to work, and didn "t have time to reach out to cats. On my next project
you will get that." Rob also confirmed that he hopes to reunite with Buckwild,
as well as team with Scram Jones and the legendary Pete Rock, who is presently
producing the next full-length from Smif-N "-Wessun for Duck Down.
Joining a growing list of veteran New York emcees including Pharoahe Monch,
Buckshot and Sean Price, Rob said, "I always respected their movement and
also been a fan of their music. If I "m going independent, why not go with a
team I respect, and they have always had a true family setting & environment."
Black Rob "s first Duck Down public date will take place at October 19th "s Duck
Down and Blacksmith showcase, held in Downtown Manhattan "s La Poisson Rouge.
