DJ Premier & Bumpy Knuckles Hit Highline Ballroom for "Kolexxxion " Release Concert
Last night, NYC was treated to a hip-hop nostalgic treat! Super
producer DJ Premier and hip-hop vet Bumpy Knuckles (known to those who remember
his work in the late 80s/early 90s as Freddie Foxxx) hosted their album release
party/concert at the Highline Ballroom for their collaborative album The Kolexxxion.
The show, which went well into 1AM, was hosted by none other than
Flavor Flav, who in between bridging the acts together announced a new Public
Enemy album in the works.
The staged featured a mix of new faces with 90s hip-hop influence
(Justo, NYGz, and Sean Penn rocked their sets) and old school hip-hop vets showing
that they "re still here—and definitely still got it! The staged was filled
with the likes of legends Grandmaster Flash, DJ Kool Herc, female MC Sweet Tee,
The
Cold Crush Brothers, Eric B., O.C., Heather B, MOP (rocking the crowd as
always with their anthem "Ante Up"), and a crowd raising appearance
from Lord Finnesse. Naughty By Nature came through to close the show out, ending
a night filled with great memories from the golden era of hip-hop.—Keenan
